This tour combines the informative Geothermal Exhibition with an exciting 4x4 Superjeep self-drive tour with beautiful views and experiences, just 15 minutes outside of Reykjavík. The Hellisheiði and Hengill Volcanic areas are some of the most active geothermal areas in Iceland and an important source of renewable energy for the city of Reykjavík. Our guide will meet you by the ON Geothermal Energy Exhibition where you have the chance to visit a short guided exhibition about the production of renewable energy in Iceland. Following the 30 minute exhibition, we change gears and head out along the Reykjavegur 4x4 trail on modified Land Rover Super Defenders. On our way, we will see and learn about how the geothermal power is harvested from the mountain and then lead to the powerplant to produce electric energy in a sustainable way. Along the way, we will have to navigate 4x4 trails, drive up steep hills and cross rivers with our sturdy Superjeep Land Rover Defenders. Stops are made to switch drivers and to enjoy the beautiful views over the mountains and the Reykjavík city.
